NYU Students Start #BetterSexTalk Campaign
August 3, 2015
Recently, students at New York University (NYU) were asked the following question: If you could give one piece of advice to a younger sibling about sex, what would you say? Out of the answers to this question came the student-run #BetterSexTalk campaign, which features the students’ quotes with their pictures.
Student Josy Jablons—who started the campaign—asked many of her fellowstudents this question to make them think a lot more about how college campuses deal with sexual assault. Students’ answers for the #BetterSexTalk Campaign range from comments on consent to self-love and even statements on expectations about sex. Students’ responses were so poignant because they recognize that their younger siblings are most likely not getting the conversations about sex that they deserve. In an interview with ThinkProgress, Jablons said, “I have a younger sister; she’s 16. I recognize that she’s not going to get the sex talk that I want her to get, there’s going to be a lot of information left out.”
So now the question is, what advice would you give to a younger sibling? Let us know in the comments!
