Happy 15th Birthday, Sexetc.org!
February 14, 2014
Happy birthday, dear Sex, Etc., happy birthday to you!
This month, we celebrate the 15th anniversary of Sexetc.org! In the last decade and a half, we’ve seen some incredible changes. Our cell phones are smaller, the Internet is faster and our access to information on sexuality and sexual health is nearly unlimited. Though a lot has changed since 1999, teenagers in 2014 have some things in common with teens from 1999, mainly because teens are still asking the same questions.
Fifteen years ago, Sexetc.org looked a lot different. We didn’t have the awesome formatting, graphics and games we have today, but we did have the same commitment to honest, comprehensive sexuality education. Questions that were being asked in 1999 ranged from, “Is my penis the right size?” to “Are my breasts big enough?” And from “Am I pregnant?” to “I think I might be lesbian, gay, bisexual or queer. Am I normal?”
If you’re thinking these questions look eerily familiar, it’s because they are! Fifteen years later, teens are still asking our sexperts for advice about everything from body image to relationships. Although times have changed, some things have stayed the same. Sexetc.org has helped millions of teenagers just like each of us. Now, that’s a reason for everyone to celebrate!
