Serena (she/her), 17, is an activist, journalist, musician and totally fun person to be around. Serena joined Sex, Etc. because she’s always loved journalism, and wants to channel her activism into advocating for comprehensive sex education. Outside of Sex, Etc., Serena keeps busy. When she isn’t practicing classical violin, writing for her school newspaper and literary magazine, studying Chinese history in her independent study program or standing up for underrepresented Asian American voices, you might find her cooking for her Instagram or hanging out with friends. One of the ways Serena helps raise awareness about injustice toward Asian Americans is through the post scriptum project, a website where she and her peers publish art, poetry, speeches and interviews about the Asian American experience. In her free time, Serena loves watching Studio Ghibli movies, listening to summery rock or indie pop (for the good vibes), or reading her favorite book The Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
