Sixteen-year-old McKenna—a native of the land of potatoes, Idaho—wanted to write for Sex, Etc. because it has been her own unbiased source of sexuality education as a young and curious teen. As a writer, she wants to focus on providing comprehensive sexuality education that doesn’t place the entire focus on abstinence, and instead covers a wide range of options for teens, such as different birth control and safer sex methods. McKenna, a powerful and confident public speaker, once gave a TED Talk about a petition that she started concerning gender equality in the toy industry and how it can be difficult to make even small changes in a world with so much inequality. Some of her hobbies include reading and writing poetry, painting, performing in musical theatre, singing and baking! When McKenna grows up, she would love to be a forensic psychologist to study what goes through the minds of criminals. In her free time, you can often find McKenna either binge watching South Park episodes or baking up tasty treats. But you’ll never find her organizing her room—it’s an absolute mess!
