Meet the Staff

Maya Kurland (she/her)

Maya (she/her), 16, is back for another year on the teen staff. She loves being part of the Sex, Etc. team; empowering teens with real, relatable advice that goes beyond classroom basics is important to her. She believes schools don’t teach enough about sex, often focusing too much on things like sexually transmitted infections without providing a full picture. Maya wanted to join Sex, Etc. to help create open, honest conversations that give teens the information they need to make informed choices about sexual health. Besides believing in comprehensive sex ed, Maya is always seeking new ways to express herself and push boundaries. She’s a varsity pole vaulter, a musician who plays guitar, piano and drums and also the vice president of her school’s Outdoors Club. Outside of school, you can catch her skateboarding, surfing or exploring the outdoors.
