Meet the Staff

Maya Kurland (she/her)

Maya, 17, is thrilled to be in her third year on the teen staff! Maya joined Sex, Etc. because she believes in the importance of accessible and accurate sexual health information for teens. When she isn’t debunking myths about sex, Maya serves and leads her community. At school, she is the co-editor-in-chief of the newspaper and a pole vaulter on the track and field team. She’s also part of Planned Parenthood Metropolitan’s Youth Advisory Board and contributes to neuroscience research! In the future, Maya plans to continue this research. She would also like to help expand available resources for public education. Besides her academic pursuits, Maya loves to make music, write poetry and perform with her band, SockMouth. Maya hopes to continue using her writing skills to empower other teens to make informed decisions regarding their health!
