Meet the Staff

David Guirgis

Sixteen-year-old David is lively, loves the humanities and has been writing for as long as he has been reading. He first heard about Sex, Etc. through friends at his school and decided to join the staff this year to gain writing experience and advocate for sexuality education. This isn’t his first writing gig however; he has previously written an op-ed in his local paper about Common Core testing and teacher strikes. He describes himself as a hopeless romantic, and if he could take any class, it would be Love & Literature. After graduating from high school in 2016, David aspires to major in journalism and dreams of writing for The New Yorker. As a Sex, Etc. staff writer, he wants to write about body image, and if there was one thing that he wanted every teenager to know, it would be that they aren’t as alone as they think they are.
